A.Present Participial phrase( 4 mins): (V-ing)
Ex: 1. The girl is Lan. She’s playing with the dog.
( The girl who is playing with the dog is Lan
( The girl playing with the dog is Lan.
2. The man who spoke to John is my brother.
( The man speaking to John is my brother.
*Note: - We can use present participle to replace a relative clause in case the sentence has active meaning.
- We reduce relative clause by omitting relative pronoun, then we use the main verb infinitive+ ING
* Formula 1: relative pronoun + V(active)( V-ing
* Task 1(6 mins) :Rewrite the following sentences, using a present participial phrase.

The boy playing the piano is Ben.
Do you know the woman coming toward us?
The people waiting for the bus in the rain are getting wet.
The scientists researching the causes of cancer are making progress.
The fence surrounding our house is made of wood.

B. Past Participial Phrase (3mins): (V-ed )
Ex: 1. That book is interesting. It was written by Shakespeare.
( The book which was written by Shakespeare is interesting.

2. The Sport Games were the first Asian Games. They were held in India in 1951.
( The Sport Games which were held in India in 1951 were the first Asian Games.
